Week 38

38 weeks

  • How far along? 38 weeks. Really counting down now, folks.
  • Total weight gain: 29lbs
  • Sleep: About the same. Usually one bathroom break a night and usually I can fall right back to sleep
  • Cravings: Still sweet tea. Anything sweet, really (see above weight gain)
  • Best moment this week: Sharing Baby K’s name with our parents. Though we’re still reserving our right to change it after she’s here
  • Movement: Yep. Still enjoys poking her foot/heel/something out on my right side
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In. And I think it’ll stay this way (thankfully!)
  • What I miss: Not being pregnant. I’m starting to feel like I’ve been pregnant for years
  • Milestones: I’m not sure…. being ready? My bags are packed and in my car. We just need to put together a bag for Matt and we’ll be set.
I’m really crossing my fingers that this is my last weekly update before Baby K joins us. At my doctors appointment this morning we learned that we’ve made more progress and Baby K has moved down some more. Our doctor was optimistic that I will be in labor before our next appointment on Tuesday the 20th. I’m just glad that we’re moving in the right direction but at the same time I’m trying not to get too excited since I know that we could very well have two more weeks to go. It’s so funny how you go through pregnancy hoping for no aches or pains, then at the end you’re crossing your fingers that any and every twinge or cramp is a sign of impending labor.

Week 37

37 weeks

  • How far along? 37 weeks. Under 20 days to go!
  • Total weight gain: Holding steady at 27lbs. After my not-so-great-gain last week, I really tried to control my dessert intake and it paid off with only a 2 ounce gain! Quite the accomplishment.
  • Sleep: I’m up at least once to go to the bathroom. Usually I can fall right back to sleep, but sometimes not. I suppose I should just appreciate any sleep I get at this point
  • Cravings: Sweet iced tea. Can’t get enough of the stuff
  • Best moment this week: Just knowing that we’re getting closer and closer to finally meeting this little girl. Though that’s kind of terrifying at the same time.
  • Movement: You know it. She’s getting a bit more cramped in there but she can still cause me pain with her energetic movements
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In
  • What I miss: Beer. Though I don’t miss it as much as I’m getting so excited to drink it again.
  • Milestones: We’re full term! Baby K can come and join us at any point now. I’ve got most of the logistics at work figured out and I’m pretty much ready to *not* be pregnant anymore.

Week 36

36 weeks

  • How far along? 36 weeks. Less than 28 days to go.
  • Total weight gain: 27lbs. Yikes. I had quite the weight bump in the past 2 weeks. I can blame this on the baby, right?
  • Sleep: Same as last week – sleeping well, sometimes getting up to go to the bathroom, lots of rolling over with increasing difficulty.
  • Cravings: Sweets. Maybe this is really why I had the weight jump? I’m going to try to cut back on sweets this week and focus on healthy snacks so that hopefully I wont gain much.
  • Best moment this week: Buying a bunch of onesies at $1 each and feeling a bit more prepared
  • Movement: Holy cow, yes. We’ve got baby feet/knees pushing around and doing crazy things.
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In
  • What I miss: Bending over
  • Milestones: 1 week closer to full term! Also, the wedding rings have come off. They still fit, but things were getting close, so I’ve switched over to wearing a silver ring that decently resembles a wedding band but is a good full size larger than my real rings so it fits comfortably. We’ve also got the car seat base installed in my car.

Week 35

35 weeks

Look! I’m wearing something other than the gray striped shirt!

  • How far along? 35 weeks. 35 DAYS to go. Crazytown, folks.
  • Total weight gain: 21lbs as of last week. I’ve pretty much given up with weighing myself at home
  • Sleep: Usually waking up once a night to go to the bathroom and waking up to roll over. Rolling over and getting out of bed are both becoming quite the tasks
  • Cravings: Commercials for fish & chips meant that we had to go get some for dinner last night. Delicious.
  • Best moment this week: Knocking out some nursery projects (details to come!)
  • Movement: Yep.
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In
  • What I miss: My memory.
  • Milestones: Matt went out of town for the last time this weekend and I got my last pre-baby haircut. Also, I’ve started having some dreams about having a kid around. I’m obviously still trying to work out the idea that we’re actually going to have a child in the next month. It’s really hard to connect the alien that kicks my ribs with a real, soon-to-be-born person.

Week 34

34 weeks

  • How far along? 34 weeks.
  • Total weight gain: 21. Thankfully my doctor isn’t concerned about a 3lb gain over 2 weeks.
  • Sleep: Things are ok. I am probably jinxing myself here though.
  • Cravings: I think I’m starting to have real cravings now. They’re based on seeing a food or talking about a food, but nonetheless, the baby has started to make her desires known. This past weekend it started with wings, then a milkshake, then the random desire for spaghetti.
  • Best moment this week: Getting over my cold. That was not fun, though I was surprised that the Tylenol based cold medicine worked decently well.
  • Movement: She kicked my arm away one day. Seriously. It was unreal.
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In
  • What I miss: Putting on socks/non-slip-on-shoes without issue.
  • Milestones: I bought a case of diapers and wipes. And according to the doctor, if I were to go into labor at this point they wouldn’t try to stop it. Now you’re crazy talkin’.

Week 33

33 weeks

  • How far along? 33 weeks.
  • Total weight gain: exactly 18lbs as of last Wednesday. So probably 18.5ish by now
  • Maternity clothes? This question is getting old. I think I’ll remove it for next week
  • Sleep: Some nights are better than others. I don’t want to jinx myself here. I did get the OK to take sone Unisom to help me sleep if needed, so it’s good to know that if I wake up for 2hrs in the middle of the night again, I can take something to help me get back to sleep.
  • Cravings: The only thing that sticks out is the fact that I demolished the Kettle Corn that I brought home from the shower
  • Best moment this week: Matt finally feeling the crazy huge movements that Baby K will do. She usually stops moving when he tries to feel her moving but last night she didn’t stop with her foot/knee jabbing.
  • Movement: See above. Some of these crazy movements are getting a bit uncomfortable.
  • Gender: Girl
  • Belly Button in or out? In, but way shallow
  • What I miss: Beer. I broke down and got a 6 pack of O’Douls. It just wouldn’t have been the Super Bowl without a beer!
  • Milestones: I’ve got my first pregnant illness – a cold. Definitely not fun. We also picked up a Chicco playard – where the baby will sleep for the first few weeks or so in our room. Something about setting that up and making sure it fits next to the bed made things a bit more real that having a nursery. So I packed that sucker back up and put it in the nursery closet.

Stay tuned for some more nursery updates this week. If you follow me on Twitter you’ve probably seen some sneak peeks – I’ve done some DIY artwork and we got the decal up on the wall. Fabric for the crib skirt should be delivered today so hopefully I can get that done, cold permitting. I’m starting to feel like it’s crunch time — I’ll be full term before I know it! I probably should start buying some diapers…
